So I just did my taxes. Yeah, cutting it close this year.
I owe the Fed just under $400, and CA just over $400 (but LA owes me the $75 my last company gave to them for taxes, even though they knew I spent exactly 0 days living in Louisiana in 2006).
So ~ $800 owed and a checking account balance of ~ $700.
Think I need to find an extension form somewhere. |

Nothing like 13 or so hours of sleep.
Long story short, "minor" software upgrade planned for Friday night. We decided to do Windows updates as well. Something went wrong during one of the last sets of Windows updates on one of our servers, the backup server (which is the one that had the software update done on), and it got hosed. For quite a while we couldn't even log in to it.
Eventually remedied by just upgrading to Win2003 over the existing Win2k install.
I'm sure it took us more time to do everything we did than it should have, but we're both nubs. |

So on my drive to work this morning, I am stopped in traffic outside of a gym. Idly glancing about, I notice a young man come outside in his sweats, and go jogging off down the sidewalk...
...straight to the fast food place across the alley.
On a separate note, I'm starting to wonder if the people that I know here think I have a drinking problem, as every time the Ivys have a gathering, I always seem to wind up getting trashed and passing out on their couch.
In this case, I blame the combination of their party, and the company party I went to beforehand. Yeah, I drank a lot that night. Considering when going to club(s) I'm the one that drives, I guess I'm entitled to some over-indulgence from time to time. Those times just always seem to be at the Ivys'. |

For the past 5 years or so I've been with Sprint. I've had little-to-no problems with phone service with them. I'm looking to replace my phone. Because of their abhorrant customer service, I'm planning on switching carriers.
Who do you use?
How is the phone service (reception, etc.)?
How is the customer service?
Would you recommend your carrier to me? |

Running a little behind this morning...nothing really special. I just can't really afford to waste any time in my morning ritual to get out the door and into the pure joy that is L.A. traffic.
On my "running a little behind" mornings, I tend to shower first. It's closer to the bed, after all. I head in there, and do what I always do: turn on the hot water only, wait for the faucet to warm up, then turn on the cold water to adjust the temperature before I switch it from faucet to showerhead.
So I turn on the hot water. And wait. And wait. Still not warming up. I wait a bit longer.
Mind you, I'm "running a little behind" so I "can't really afford to waste any time" getting ready.
Into the cold shower I go.
And yes, that was the entire point of this post. |
